Move your WhatsApp chats to Telegram easily

Telegram updated its instant messaging app with a new move history tool that allows WhatsApp, Line and KakaoTalk users to migrate all of their chat data between apps.

Facebook has faced a lot of backlash for its controversial privacy agreement for WhatsApp, Millions of people have started to boycott the instant chat messenger in favor of rival platforms like Signal, Telegram. Now, Telegram is leaving no stone unturned to turn this situation to their advantage. In an effort to attract more WhatsApp users, the privacy-focused chat messenger has just made it easier for users to import their chats to Telegram.

It is not only for WhatsApp, Telegram made easy to import for 2 other messaging platform Line and KakaoTalk.

How to import the WhatsApp chat:

On Android:

open a WhatsApp chat, tap > More > Export Chat, then choose Telegram in the Share menu.

On IOS:

open the Contact Info or Group Info page in WhatsApp, tap Export Chat, then choose Telegram in the Share menu.

Messages will be imported into the current day but will also include their original timestamps. All members of the chat on Telegram will see the messages.

Other additions in Telegram v7.4.0 include more chat deletion options with options to remove chats and calls for both sides as well as delete groups for all participating members. Voice Chats now get the ability to adjust volume levels individually for all participants and you can also fast forward and rewind music playback speed within the built-in audio player.

Remember, however, that Telegram’s messages are not end-to-end encrypted. If that’s the kind of security, you expect from an instant messenger, either get ready to enable it for each chat session, go for Signal, or keep using WhatsApp.
