[Video] Are you using Google Allo, then say bye. Google shutdown the App

Google Allo App

Google will shut down the Allo messaging App in March 2019, will focus on Android Messages for well messaging, Duo for video calls, and Hangouts for team communications.

Watch the above video steps to do the process for complete removal of Google Allo and saving your data.

On September 20th, 2016, Google finally pushed Allo out into to the world, and with it all the juicy details for Google’s messaging vision.

Platform support was also revealed to be limited to phones running Android and iOS, with no desktop client. This new service would be tied to your phone number, like WhatsApp, rather than your Google account, as in the case of Hangouts.

The company said it had ceased work on the service earlier this year, and now it has announced that it’ll close down in March of next year (2019).

“Allo will continue to work through March 2019 and until then, you’ll be able to export all of your existing conversation history from the app,” Google said in a blog post. “We’ve learned a lot from Allo, particularly what’s possible when you incorporate machine learning features, like the Google Assistant, into messaging.”

They’ve provided step-by-step instructions on how to download it and messages will be stored in a CSV file while media attachments will be in a zip file. Meanwhile other features you may have enjoyed like Smart Reply, GIFs, and desktop support, are already available in Messages so we might see other features added there too.

In retrospect, it seems like Google was trying to model Allo after WhatsApp, all the while refusing to understand that model had already failed in the US. It took the company almost two years to get the message, so might be the folks at Google must have missed that notification in Allo, too.
