In October, WhatsApp announced in a blog-post that it is adding support to third-party developers to build WhatsApp sticker apps for both Android and iOS users.
Apple users will no more be able to create their own customized WhatsApp Stickers. Reason? Apple has been deleting all third-party WhatsApp sticker apps from the App Store for violating its guidelines.
These apps have found to be violating Apple’s developer guidelines
WABetaInfo tweeted as below, the fansite of WhatsApp, Apple has given three main reasons for the deletion.
Apple is reporting that all WhatsApp Stickers are violating their guidelines. The main reasons:
1) There are too much apps with similar behavior.
2) It requires WA to be installed. Apps should not require another apps.
3) The design of these apps is the same. https://t.co/L86KCYeSBV— WABetaInfo (@WABetaInfo) November 18, 2018
In October, WhatsApp announced in a blog-post that it is adding support for third-party developers to build sticker apps for WhatsApp for both Android and iOS users. Designers were asked to “publish your sticker app like any other app on the Google Play Store or Apple App Store and users who download and install your app will be able to start sending those stickers right from within WhatsApp.”
After this announcement, the Apple App Store has been flooding with these sticker apps. Apple argues that apps should not depend on other apps to function, but the sticker apps require WhatsApp to be installed.
The feature allows users to add Stickers to the chat to make the conversation more fun and interactive. WhatsApp has rolled out the stickers with a pack of 12 popular stickers that are Cuppy, Salty, Komo, Bibimbap Friends, Unchi & Rollie, Shiba Inu, The Maladroits, Koko, Hatch, Fearless and Fabulous, Banana, and Biscuit. To add more stickers to the list, users have to tap the plus icon to get more stickers. They will be directed to the Play Store where they can see the list of supported sticker packs with some free and some being chargeable. These stickers have WaStickerApps mentioned next to their names. Users can add as well as delete the sticker packs for WhatsApp that they want to.
However, no official statement about this has been released by Apple or WhatsApp as yet.
